Lipscomb Women’s Golf player Ava Bankston was named the ASUN Women’s Golfer of the Week on Mar. 26 after winning the individual championship at The Nashville Invitational.

The recognition comes as Bankston achieved her first career tournament victory, leading Lipscomb throughout the event. She posted scores of 74 and 73 in the first two rounds, tying for seventh place after 36 holes. In the final round, Bankston improved her play, recording two birdies in her first nine holes and finishing that stretch at one under par.

After making pars on eight consecutive holes following the turn, she entered the final hole trailing by two shots. A strong drive to the fairway and a successful up-and-down led to a birdie on hole 18, allowing her to finish with a score of 70 (two under par) for that round. When another competitor made a double bogey on their last hole, Bankston secured victory with an overall score of 217 (one over par) for the tournament.

Bankston’s performance included ten birdies and thirty-three pars across all rounds.
