Belmont Baseball split a doubleheader against Wofford at E.S. Rose Park, rallying late to win the opener before dropping the series finale on March 8.

The results mark a competitive day for both teams, with Belmont edging out a close victory in game one and Wofford responding with a strong performance in game two.

In the first game, Belmont secured a 3-2 win by relying on late home runs and solid pitching. Wofford took an early lead with two runs in the opening inning, but Jake Maddox’s double brought Charlie Davis home to cut the deficit. Davis then tied the game with a solo home run in the fifth inning, and Mike Sprockett gave Belmont its first lead with another solo homer in the sixth. Owen Cavey pitched five innings, allowing just two runs (one earned) and striking out five. McKale Stevenson earned the win with two scoreless innings of relief, while Cavey was credited with the save.

Wofford responded in game two by defeating Belmont 11-1. Ben Timblin hit a two-run homer in the first inning to give Wofford an early advantage. The Terriers extended their lead throughout the game, highlighted by RBI hits from Niko Brini, Timblin, and Hunter Herndon. Belmont’s only run came from Cavan McMeans’ solo home run in the third inning. McMeans led Belmont offensively with two hits and one RBI.
