The Belmont University Softball team won 3-1 against Saint Louis in the opening game of its final home weekend at E.S. Rose Park, according to a May 1 announcement.
This victory is significant as it keeps Belmont’s strong season record intact and sets the tone for the remainder of their home series. The game was closely contested until late, with both teams held scoreless through five innings.
Saint Louis took a brief lead in the top of the sixth inning, but Belmont quickly answered back. One player’s stolen base during this inning marked her 24th of the season, leading all players in the Missouri Valley Conference.
Belmont added another run with an RBI single to center field, making it 3-1. The Bruins’ pitcher delivered a complete game performance, allowing just one run on two hits while striking out thirteen batters—her twenty-fifth win this season.
The series continues on Saturday, May 2 at E.S. Rose Park with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m. Central Time. Senior Day celebrations will also take place as graduating players are honored by the team and fans. Live statistics will be available on GoBelmontBruins.com.
