The Belmont University Softball team secured a series win over Northern Iowa on April 25, continuing its lead in the Missouri Valley Conference standings.

The Bruins displayed a combination of timely hitting and dominant pitching during Saturday’s finale. The game featured a breakout inning at the plate and another strong outing from the pitching staff.

During the matchup, one player reached her 200th career hit milestone, while another moved into a tie for first place in the conference with 22 stolen bases. In Game 3 against Northern Iowa, Belmont responded to an early deficit by evening the score in the third inning with a sacrifice fly before taking control in the fourth. The Bruins’ offense erupted for six runs in that inning, starting with an RBI single. A grand slam to left center marked another player’s first career home run and gave Belmont a significant lead.

The momentum continued as Belmont added another run on an error and later capitalized on defensive miscues to extend their advantage further. By the seventh inning, two more runs were scored following additional defensive errors by Northern Iowa, sealing a decisive 9–1 victory for Belmont.

Pitching was also key to the team’s success; one pitcher delivered another complete-game performance by allowing just one run on seven hits while striking out fourteen batters.

Looking ahead, Belmont remains on the road for a midweek doubleheader against Indiana State scheduled for Tuesday, April 28 in Terre Haute, Indiana. First pitch is set for 1 p.m., with live stats available via GoBelmontBruins.com and streaming coverage provided through ESPN+.
