The Belmont University Softball team will return home for its final weekend of the season, hosting a nonconference series against Saint Louis at E.S. Rose Park, according to an April 30 announcement. The Bruins are scheduled to play the Billikens on Friday, May 1 at 3:30 p.m. Central Time and Saturday, May 2 at 1 p.m.

Saturday’s game will serve as Senior Day, with Belmont honoring six seniors before the first pitch. The team enters the weekend after its midweek games at Indiana State were canceled and following a recent series win over Northern Iowa. This victory marked Belmont’s eighth series win of the season.

Belmont has also clinched its first Missouri Valley Conference regular-season championship in program history. The Bruins currently lead the conference standings and have been ranked No. 1 in both D1 Softball and Softball America Mid-Major Polls for four consecutive weeks.

The team has received votes in national polls and appeared in mid-major rankings for twelve straight weeks. Defensively, Belmont leads the conference with a .974 fielding percentage and has recorded shutouts over sixteen teams this season.

At the plate, Belmont is hitting .298 with 226 runs batted in and a .385 on-base percentage. Individual players have achieved notable milestones this year; one pitcher holds a record of twenty-four wins with only two losses, an earned run average of 0.71, and leads NCAA Division I softball in several statistical categories including total strikeouts.

Belmont is coming off a historic previous campaign that included winning its first MVC Tournament Championship last year under head coach Laura Matthews’ leadership.
