Belmont University Softball secured its second consecutive Missouri Valley Conference Tournament Championship on May 9 with an 8–1 victory over Murray State University at Charlotte West Stadium in Carbondale, Illinois.

The win marks a historic achievement for the Bruins, who also earned their first MVC regular season championship earlier this year. This is the program’s second straight tournament title after capturing its inaugural championship in 2025.

Belmont combined strong pitching and a powerful offense to take control of the game. After Murray State took a brief lead with a solo home run in the fourth inning, Belmont responded with a six-run rally in the bottom half of the frame. Key hits included a two-RBI single by freshman Spindler and additional RBI contributions from Dolecki and Balsiger, giving Belmont a commanding lead.

The Bruins added two more runs in the fifth inning, highlighted by another two-RBI single from Spindler. In total, Spindler reached 40 RBIs for the season. On defense, Giles started strong in the circle before being relieved in the fifth inning; she allowed just one run on two hits over four innings and struck out four batters. The relief pitcher closed out three scoreless innings to secure her second save of the year.

Looking ahead, Belmont will learn its NCAA Regional destination during the NCAA Softball Selection Show scheduled for Sunday, May 10 at 6 p.m. Central Time on ESPN2.
