Belmont University Men’s and Women’s Track & Field teams will participate in the Georgia Tech Invitational, which takes place this weekend at George C. Griffin Track, according to an April 15 announcement.
The event is important for the Bruins as it provides another opportunity to compete against regional opponents after opening their outdoor season at the Yellow Jacket Invitational last month.
Friday’s schedule begins with the women’s hammer throw at 1 p.m. Central Standard Time. Other field events throughout Friday evening include men’s javelin, women’s pole vault, women’s long jump, and women’s javelin. Running events are set to start at 4 p.m., featuring races such as the 100-meter hurdles, along with entries in the 1500 meters, 3000-meter steeplechase, and 5000 meters.
On Saturday, field events continue into early afternoon with competitions in women’s high jump, men’s pole vault, and men’s high jump. The relay team will take part in the 4×100 meter relay at 11:15 a.m., followed by athletes competing in the 400-meter hurdles, 400 meters, and 800 meters. The weekend will close out with Belmont’s participation in the men’s 200-meter race.
