Belmont University announced on May 18 that Paige Schumann has been appointed as the new assistant coach for the women’s basketball program. Head coach Bart Brooks said Schumann, who previously served as a graduate assistant with the Bruins, was selected for her strong work ethic and positive influence on the team.
The appointment of Schumann is significant because she has already contributed to Belmont’s recent successes during her two years with the program. Her efforts in opponent scouting, practice planning, player development, and overseeing team managers have helped the Bruins achieve 46 wins and reach the championship game of the 2025 Women’s Basketball Invitation Tournament.
“Paige has demonstrated a great work ethic and commitment to our program as a graduate assistant, showing an incredible ability to serve our players and coaching staff with positivity and enthusiasm,” Brooks said. “It was an easy decision to offer Paige a full-time position on our staff after seeing her positive impact and consistent work ethic over the two years she’s been with our program. I’m very excited to continue working with Paige and I know she will make our program better.”
Schumann recently earned her Master of Sport Administration degree from Belmont. Before joining Belmont, she played college basketball at Eastern Illinois University for two seasons before transferring to Wisconsin-La Crosse where she started all games in which she played, averaging more than six points per game throughout her career.
During her time in college athletics, Schumann also volunteered as a basketball coach for Boys & Girls Clubs of America and worked as a referee for Special Olympics events.
