Belmont women’s golf tied for third after first round of MVC Championship

The Belmont women’s golf team is tied for third place after the first round of the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Championship, according to an April 19 announcement. The event is taking place at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois.

This result places Belmont eight strokes behind leader Murray State and five strokes back from second-place Bradley. The team posted a score of 312 on a day marked by cool and windy conditions, tying them with Drake for third.

Three Bruins are currently ranked among the top ten individuals after 18 holes. A sophomore stands alone in third place with a score of 74, just one stroke behind leaders Alyssa Mixon from Bradley and Ella Scherer from Murray State, who each shot a 73. The sophomore’s performance included five birdies, five bogeys, and one double bogey.

A graduate student and a freshman are both tied for eighth place after posting scores of 77. Additionally, a junior is tied for thirty-seventh with an 84, while another sophomore is tied for fifty-third after shooting a 91.
