David Price was inducted into the College Baseball Hall of Fame during the College Baseball Night of Champions in Overland Park, Kansas. Price is among 21 individuals honored as part of the 2025 class.
During his college career at Vanderbilt University, Price led the team to Southeastern Conference (SEC) regular season and tournament championships in 2007. That same year, he was selected as the No. 1 overall pick in the MLB Draft by the Tampa Bay Rays.
In 2007, Price recorded an 11-1 win-loss record with a 2.63 earned run average (ERA) and set school records with 194 strikeouts over 133.1 innings pitched. He received several national awards, including the Golden Spikes Award, Dick Howser Trophy, Brooks Wallace Award, Roger Clemens Award, and was named SEC Pitcher of the Year. He was also recognized as a consensus National Player of the Year and first-team All-American.
Price finished his collegiate career with a total of 441 strikeouts, which remains a Vanderbilt record. His performance in 2006 included 155 strikeouts, ranking fifth in school history for a single season.
He received All-America honors in both 2006 and as a freshman in 2005 when he posted a 2.86 ERA over 19 appearances with 92 strikeouts. He was named National Pitcher of the Week three times during his college tenure.
After leaving Vanderbilt, Price had a successful Major League Baseball career that included winning the Cy Young Award in 2010 and being part of the World Series-winning team in 2018. He was selected to participate in five MLB All-Star Games.
