Detectives Working Active Leads in Saturday Night’s Fatal Shooting of a 16-Year-Old on Zermatt Ave

Detectives Working Active Leads in Saturday Night’s Fatal Shooting of a 16-Year-Old on Zermatt Avenue in South Nashville 

A suspected argument between two groups of teens led to gunfire in the parking lot of apartments on Zermatt Avenue in South Nashville at 10:50 p.m. Saturday resulting in a 16-year-old being fatally wounded.

The deceased is identified as Demetrius Johnson. He was found on the pavement and transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died. Johnson’s 18-year-old brother was shot in the foot during the incident. He was treated and released from the hospital.

Witnesses reported hearing shots and seeing several individuals flee the area on foot immediately after the gunfire. Homicide Unit and Specialized Investigations Division detectives are pursuing active leads as they work to identify the shooter. Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact Nashville Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward of up to $5,000 in homicide cases.
