FOIA Request to Galen Health Institutes-Nashville Regarding Chinese National Students on May 14, 2025.

As part of our commitment to transparency and accountability in educational institutions, we at the Nashville Standard have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Galen Health Institutes-Nashville. Our inquiry focuses on obtaining detailed records concerning Chinese National students currently enrolled at the institution.

The request specifically seeks documents or lists that reveal the number of current students who are Chinese Nationals, along with their respective departments of study. Additionally, we have asked for information regarding scholarships awarded to these students, including the amount and source of each scholarship. Particular attention is given to any scholarships affiliated with the Chinese Scholarship Council.

Furthermore, we are interested in understanding how the university safeguards its intellectual property and confidential information. Therefore, we have requested any policies or procedures related to monitoring students, including those who are Chinese Nationals.

This request is made on behalf of The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting transparency by leveraging Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws. As members of the media, we emphasize our role in providing comprehensive news coverage and holding public institutions accountable.

We look forward to receiving this information promptly as it plays a crucial role in informing the public about institutional practices and ensuring transparency within educational entities.
