FOIA Request to Herzing University-Nashville Regarding Chinese National Students on May 14, 2025.

As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at the Nashville Standard have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Herzing University-Nashville. This request seeks detailed information about the university’s current Chinese National students and their affiliations with various departments and scholarship programs.

Specifically, we have requested documents or lists that reveal the total number of current students who are Chinese Nationals, along with a breakdown by department. Additionally, we seek information regarding scholarships received by these students, including the amount and source of each scholarship. Furthermore, we are interested in identifying any recipients of scholarships affiliated with the Chinese Scholarship Council.

In addition to student-related data, our request includes any policies or procedures the university has in place for monitoring students—particularly Chinese Nationals—to safeguard the institution’s intellectual property and other confidential information.

This inquiry is made on behalf of both our publication and The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy. As media professionals dedicated to holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency, access to such public records is crucial for fulfilling our responsibilities. We believe this request aligns with our mission to inform the public while advocating for open government practices.
