As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability in local governmental affairs, Nashville Standard has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Strayer University-Nashville. This request seeks detailed information concerning the university’s Chinese National students and related policies.

The specific requests include:

2. Information on scholarships awarded to Chinese National students, detailing the amount each student receives and the source of these scholarships.

3. A list of recipients for any scholarships granted by organizations affiliated with the Chinese Scholarship Council, unless this information is already covered in the previous request.

4. Policies or procedures outlining how the university safeguards its Intellectual Property and other confidential information from unauthorized access by students, including those who are Chinese Nationals.

This request is made in collaboration with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization dedicated to leveraging Freedom of Information laws to enhance public understanding of government actions. As media professionals, we emphasize that access to such records is crucial for our role in ensuring institutional accountability and providing transparency to the public.

We have also requested a fee waiver given our status as members of the media involved in news gathering and reporting activities. We await Strayer University-Nashville’s response and remain committed to informing our readers about developments in this area.
