Four members of the Vanderbilt women’s tennis team were named to the Academic All-District list, according to a May 12 announcement by College Sports Communicators.

The recognition highlights academic and athletic achievements for student-athletes. To qualify, nominees must participate in at least 75% of team-scoring competitions and maintain a cumulative grade point average above 3.5 for both fall and spring semesters.

Senior Bridget Stammel and junior Valeria Ray earned Academic All-District honors for the second consecutive year. They were joined this season by sophomores Trinetra Vijayakumar and Sophia Webster. Both Ray and Webster played in all 32 dual matches, while Stammel competed in 31 matches and Vijayakumar in 29. Each honoree held a GPA above 3.7, with Webster leading at 3.89, followed by Ray at 3.81, Stammel at 3.80, and Vijayakumar at 3.77.

Stammel concluded her final season with a record of 21-7 in dual matches—the most on the team—and posted nine singles wins against Southeastern Conference opponents. She also led the squad with eight ranked victories during dual match play and achieved career-high rankings of No. 6 nationally in singles and No.10 in doubles alongside Ray; together they compiled a record of 20-5 as partners.

Ray matched Stammel’s recognition after finishing the season with a singles record of 19-8 and a doubles mark of 23-5—primarily paired with Stammel—during dual matches. On January 25, she recorded her highest-ranked singles win over Michigan’s Piper Charney (ranked No.3). Ray ended just behind Stammel for ranked wins among Commodores players this season.
