Vanderbilt lacrosse midfielder Gabby Putman was named Freshman of the Year by the American Conference, according to an announcement made on Apr. 29.

The recognition highlights Putman’s performance during her first season, as she also earned a spot on the first-team all-conference. Other Vanderbilt players honored included Brooke Baker, Alex Gladding, Shea Panzik, and Anna Taraboletti, who were named to the second team.

Putman’s season included nine conference honors overall, with eight coming in consecutive weeks at the end of the regular season. She became the first player in program history to surpass 100 draw controls in a single year and set multiple records for both game and season draw controls.

During her rookie campaign, Putman started all 17 games and contributed 14 goals and five assists for a total of 19 points. Her statistics also included 102 draw controls, 20 ground balls, and 14 caused turnovers.

The awards recognize individual achievements within Vanderbilt’s lacrosse program as well as outstanding performances across the conference.
