Today, House Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Mark E. Green, MD (R-TN) addressed the recent terrorist attack in Boulder, Colorado. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are currently investigating what they have termed a “targeted terror attack” against participants at an event advocating for the release of hostages in Gaza.

Chairman Green stated, “The House Homeland Security Committee is in close contact with DHS and the FBI regarding the heinous, antisemitic terrorist attack that occurred in Colorado today. I am grateful for the swift response of law enforcement officers and first responders on the scene, and I am praying for the innocent victims who were targeted.”

He emphasized that antisemitism and political violence are unacceptable in America. He noted this incident as part of a series of terror acts this year, referencing “the recent assassination of two Israeli Embassy staffers in our nation’s capital.” According to Green, these events highlight “the heightened terror threat facing the United States—and to the fact that the enemies of freedom are persistent.”

Chairman Green has requested a briefing from DHS officials for members of the House Homeland Security Committee at their earliest availability.
