Today, House Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Mark E. Green, MD (R-TN) issued a statement praising the House’s passage of H.R. 1, known as the “One Big, Beautiful Bill Act.” This legislation aims to address border security concerns.

Chairman Green stated, “This vote sends a clear message to the American people that House Republicans follow through on our promises, and shows the world that our borders are once again sovereign and secure.”

The bill includes funding for border security that was advanced by the House Homeland Security Committee. It is intended to complete the border barrier system and provide necessary resources for Border Patrol agents and Customs and Border Protection officers. The aim is to continue what has been described as President Trump’s proven border security agenda.

Green emphasized the commitment of House Republicans to deliver essential resources for completing the nation’s border wall system. He mentioned efforts to recruit, train, and retain border security personnel; equip frontline law enforcement with advanced technology; maintain partnerships with state and local law enforcement through Operation Stonegarden; and support states most affected by current border issues.

He criticized the previous administration’s handling of border security: “After suffering through four years of chaos under the Biden-Harris administration, the American people gave Republicans a trifecta because they knew we would put Americans first.”

Chairman Green concluded by urging prompt action from the Senate: “President Trump and House Republicans have held up our end of the deal. Now, it’s up to the Senate to swiftly follow suit and secure our nation’s borders for generations to come.”
