Jayden Hill and Falon Spearman helped the Vanderbilt Commodores women’s track and field team score points on the final day of the Southeastern Conference Outdoor Championships in Auburn, Alabama, according to a May 16 announcement. The team ended the event with a total of 24 points.
Hill improved her own program record in the 800 meters, lowering her time from 2:02.62 to 2:00.03. This performance earned her fourth place in the final and five points for Vanderbilt. “You can see it in her eyes,” Althea Thomas, director of cross country and track and field, said. “It has been amazing to see her run with the level of confidence she has in herself, her training, her time with coach Lisa Morgan, and her team.”
Spearman contributed by finishing eighth in the finals of the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 56.68 seconds.
The relay team consisting of Danielle Dunning, Josie Donelson, Alima Kassim, and Kylah Woods recorded a finish of 44.85 seconds in the 4×100-meter relay. This was recognized as the second-fastest time in program history.
The performances by Hill and Spearman added important points for Vanderbilt as they closed out their appearance at this year’s conference championship.
