Representative John Gillespie, a Tennessee state legislator, recently used his social media platform to highlight workforce development and public safety issues in Memphis through a series of posts made on April 28 and 29, 2026.
On April 28, Gillespie emphasized the importance of skilled trades in Tennessee’s economic landscape. He wrote, “Welders are problem-solvers and craftsmen. Tennessee’s economy needs their expertise now more than ever. TCAT technical colleges develop the skilled workforce our state depends on. Learn more here: https://t.co/coEjcczb4T” (April 28, 2026).
Later that day, Gillespie acknowledged efforts to enhance public safety in Memphis by expressing appreciation for the state’s attorney general. He stated, “Big win for public safety here in Memphis. Thank you @AGTennessee https://t.co/9KVJrmeKVn” (April 28, 2026).
The following day, he addressed concerns about local criminal prosecution and legislative accountability measures. Gillespie posted, “Memphis has suffered too long under a district attorney who refuses to prosecute criminals. The Memphis Safe Task Force Accountability Act will empower the state to hold our local District Attorney accountable. Proud to have passed this bill this session. https://t.co/q2HnVUKxtB” (April 29, 2026).
The Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) system is recognized for its role in providing vocational training across the state and supporting workforce demands from industries such as manufacturing and construction. Public safety remains a central concern in Memphis; recent years have seen legislative initiatives aimed at increasing accountability among law enforcement officials and prosecutors.
