Lipscomb University defeated Florida Gulf Coast University 4-1 to open its ASUN Tournament play on May 22, after a rain delay pushed the start time to just after 9 p.m. at Melching Field at Conrad Park in DeLand, Florida.

The game marked Lipscomb’s first win in the ASUN Tournament since 2024 and ended a three-game drought for the Bisons. The victory moves their record to 27-24 for the season, while Florida Gulf Coast stands at 35-21.

A decisive three-run fifth inning helped secure the win for Lipscomb. Aaron Stelogeannis began the rally with a walk, followed by Cam Pruitt’s RBI double down the left field line. Jordan Thomas then drove in Pruitt with an RBI single up the middle before Kai Holm capped off the inning with another RBI double. Earlier, Pruitt set up another scoring opportunity in the third inning with a double down the right field line, and Thomas delivered an RBI groundout to bring Stelogeannis home.

Defensively, Lipscomb held strong throughout, including turning a crucial double play in the fifth inning that limited FGCU’s chances of coming back. FGCU managed their only run of the night on Evan Dempsey’s RBI single in the eighth inning but could not close further as Adam Jamison entered from Lipscomb’s bullpen and ended FGCU’s threat with a key strikeout.

Pitcher Alexander Llinas played a significant role for Lipscomb by pitching a career-high seven and two-thirds innings and allowing only four hits while forcing twelve fly ball outs. Cam Pruitt recorded his twentieth multi-hit game of this season—a mark last reached by Trace Willhoite in 2023—and contributed an RBI as well. Jordan Thomas had two hits and drove in two runs during his multi-RBI performance.

With this victory, Lipscomb advances to face North Alabama next for a chance to reach the ASUN Tournament Championship Game.
