Lipscomb men’s tennis falls to Vanderbilt in non-conference matchup

NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb University Men’s Tennis team was defeated by Vanderbilt University 7-0 on Sunday evening at the Lummis Family Tennis Center in Nashville. With this result, Lipscomb’s record stands at 4-2, while Vanderbilt improves to 8-2.

During doubles play, both teams secured a win in one of the flights. Facundo Perlov and Alex Vlahos earned their fourth consecutive victory with a 7-5 score. After Nathan Cox and Hoyoung Roh tied the set at 5-5, Perlov and Vlahos claimed the next two points to win, including a rally from 15-30 to deuce on the final point.

Vanderbilt took an early lead when Pablo Martinez Gomez and Danil Panarin won their match on court two with a score of 6-4.

In singles competition, Vanderbilt controlled all matches, winning all six points for a sweep over Lipscomb. Filipo Verdese and Oskar Szymczak each pushed one of their sets into a seven-point tiebreaker but were unable to secure wins.

The Bisons will travel to Arizona next weekend for a doubleheader against Grand Canyon and Arizona Christian on Friday.
