The game saw Western Kentucky take an early lead, scoring two runs in the first inning and another in the second for a quick 3–0 advantage. The Hilltoppers extended their lead to four before Lipscomb managed to get on the scoreboard.

Lipscomb’s only run came in the fifth inning when Kyla Jobe scored on a passed ball, narrowing the gap to 4–1. However, Western Kentucky added another run in the sixth inning, closing out the game at 5–1.
