Lipscomb University announced on May 20 the appointment of Maria Fields as the new Assistant Goalkeeping Coach for its women’s soccer program, effective May 18.

The addition of Fields is intended to strengthen the Bisons’ coaching staff, with a focus on goalkeeper development and student-athlete mentorship. Dr. Kathleen Paulsen, Head Coach of Lipscomb Women’s Soccer, said, “We are thrilled to welcome Maria to the Lipscomb Women’s Soccer staff. She brings a wealth of experience and knowledge through her background in goalkeeping, nutrition, business, and collegiate soccer. More importantly, her passion for fostering a Christ-centered team culture and pursuing excellence both on and off the field continually stood out throughout the hiring process. Maria’s reputation precedes her, and we could not be more excited to have her join our program.”

Fields holds a Bachelor of Arts in Behavioral Neuroscience from Illinois Wesleyan University where she played as a goalkeeper for the women’s soccer team. She recently completed her Master of Business Administration at North Central College in May 2026.

During her time at North Central College, Fields worked as a graduate assistant coach with responsibilities that included recruiting coordination, practice planning, opponent scouting, player development, academic monitoring, and data analytics.

Since 2019 Fields has also served as a staff coach at Camp Shutout in Wisconsin—described by Lipscomb University as the largest goalkeeper camp in the world—where she trained and mentored hundreds of youth goalkeepers.

Fields’ arrival is expected to contribute to both athletic performance and team culture within Lipscomb Women’s Soccer.
