Today, the House Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Mark E. Green issued a statement following the announcement from the Department of Justice regarding the capture of a high-ranking leader of the MS-13 gang, who was residing illegally in the United States. The detained individual originates from El Salvador and is associated with the criminal organization labeled as a terrorist group.

In the statement, Chairman Green criticized the Biden-Harris administration for its border policies. He stated, “It is disgraceful that one of the top leaders of this violent gang was walking free because of the Biden-Harris administration’s refusal to secure our borders and enforce the law. Under Biden and Harris’ radical, unlawful policies, MS-13 enriched itself through increased human trafficking and drug smuggling across our country.”

Chairman Green further highlighted the approach of the Trump administration towards border security. He remarked, “The Trump administration, by comparison, is laser-focused on securing our borders and dismantling these criminal organizations that benefited from four years of open borders and zero consequences.”
