Vanderbilt University announced on May 19 that senior Marta Sivina has been named to the All-Southeastern Conference (SEC) first team in track and field.
Sivina’s recognition comes after her recent performance at the SEC Outdoor Championships, where she won the heptathlon and achieved a personal best score of 5,935 points. This accomplishment places her as the second-highest scorer in the East Region and fifth overall in NCAA Division I.
During the championship event, Sivina also set new personal records in both the 200-meter and 800-meter races. The league made its announcement about her selection on Tuesday.
Sivina is from Ogre, Latvia, and is a senior at Vanderbilt. Her achievements highlight her continued improvement throughout the season.
The broader impact of this recognition may support Vanderbilt’s presence in collegiate track and field events moving forward.
