Marta Sivina won the gold medal in the heptathlon for Vanderbilt on May 15 during the second day of the Southeastern Conference Championships, earning ten points for her team and bringing their total to 18 points after two days.

Sivina achieved her personal best score of 5935 by performing consistently across all seven events. Gianna Bullock also contributed to Vanderbilt’s score with a fifth-place finish in the heptathlon, recording 5559 points. Bullock moved up in program history with a javelin throw of 38.30 meters, now ranking as the eighth farthest mark by a Commodore athlete.

In field events, Lena Gooden improved her own school record in the long jump with a leap of 6.39 meters, surpassing her previous best of 6.31 meters and finishing fifth overall. On the track, Taylor McKinnon ran the 100-meter hurdles in 13.46 seconds, bettering her earlier time and securing fourth place on Vanderbilt’s outdoor records list.

The results from day two highlight strong performances by several Commodores athletes as they continue competing at this year’s conference meet.

As competition continues at Auburn, team members look to build on these achievements through upcoming events.
