Belmont University announced on May 18 that Olivia Jordan is stepping down as head coach of the women’s golf team after six seasons to take a position outside of collegiate athletics.
Jordan’s departure marks the end of a period during which she led the program to notable achievements both athletically and academically. She said, “As I step away from my role as Head Women’s Golf Coach at Belmont University, I do so with a lot of mixed emotions. This program, this team, and this university have meant so much to me. I’m incredibly grateful for the relationships built, the memories created, and the opportunity to coach and grow alongside such amazing student-athletes and colleagues. I’m especially proud of what we accomplished together from breaking records, raising the standard of the program, and creating moments that will always be part of Belmont Women’s Golf history. While it’s never easy to leave something that has been such a meaningful part of your life, I’ll always be thankful for this chapter and the people who made it so special.”
During her tenure starting in summer 2020 as the third head coach in program history, Jordan guided Belmont to five team championships and four top-three finishes at conference championships—including two runner-up results—and coached five golfers who collectively won twelve individual titles.
Under her leadership, one golfer qualified for NCAA competition; there was one conference player of the year; one conference individual champion; ten All-Conference selections; and numerous weekly awards were earned by players.
Jordan also prioritized academics within her team. The program received several academic honors: two Scholar-Athletes of the Year awards; six Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Team selections; seven Academic All-District honorees; nine Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars; along with two top-25 finishes in WGCA Team GPA Rankings.
A national search for Jordan’s replacement will begin immediately.
