Senator Marsha Blackburn, who represents Tennessee in the United States Senate, made a series of posts on August 29, 2025, addressing crime rates in Washington D.C., sanctuary cities, and former President Donald Trump’s actions.

In her first post of the day, Blackburn commented on public safety in the nation’s capital. She wrote: “Crime is down in D.C. because President Trump sent a clear message that lawlessness will not be tolerated any longer. Americans across the country are paying attention to this matter.” (August 29, 2025).

Later that afternoon, Blackburn expressed appreciation for former President Trump with a brief statement: “Thank you, @realDonaldTrump. https://t.co/DF77XZswmG” (August 29, 2025).

In another post that evening regarding immigration policy and local governance, she stated: “Sanctuary cities shouldn’t get away with harboring illegals.” (August 29, 2025).

Senator Blackburn has been an outspoken critic of sanctuary city policies and has frequently voiced support for stricter immigration enforcement. Sanctuary cities are jurisdictions that limit cooperation with federal immigration authorities; these policies have been debated nationally regarding their impact on public safety and community relations.

As a member of the U.S. Senate representing Tennessee since 2019, Blackburn has regularly aligned herself with positions favoring increased border security and support for Trump administration initiatives.
