Sen. Marsha Blackburn, who represents Tennessee in the U.S. Senate, used her social media platform to address concerns about homeland security funding and economic policy in a series of posts on March 12 and 13, 2026.
On March 12, Blackburn referenced recent news coverage involving a suspected shooter at Old Dominion University (ODU), stating: “It’s being reported that the suspected ODU shooter is a convicted ISIS supporter who was released right before Biden left office. Democrats need to stop playing games with homeland security and fund DHS now. @SenSchumer @PattyMurray”.
The following day, she commented on national economic conditions under former President Trump compared to his predecessor: “Under President Trump’s leadership, our economy has done a 180 from what he inherited from Joe Biden. The Working Families Tax Cuts put more money back in Tennesseans’ pockets and America is open for business.”
Later on March 13, Blackburn criticized Democratic lawmakers regarding federal law enforcement agencies: “Democrats are willing to use DHS, TSA, FEMA, the Coast Guard, and the American People as pawns in their scheme to defund federal law enforcement and abolish ICE. They’ll do anything to appease their radical left base.”
Blackburn has consistently advocated for issues such as border security, lower taxes, veterans’ care, affordable health care, and online protections for children. She maintains offices throughout Tennessee and Washington D.C., serving constituents across Memphis, Jackson, Nashville, Chattanooga, Knoxville, Johnson City, and beyond. In addition to her legislative work representing the state of Tennessee in the Senate (official website), she serves on committees including Finance; Commerce; Science and Transportation; Veterans’ Affairs; and Judiciary—chairing subcommittees focused on consumer protection and privacy-related matters.
