U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn has issued a statement following the Senate’s approval of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which aims to implement President Trump’s agenda. The legislation is designed to provide significant tax cuts, enhance border security, boost American energy production, and maintain key safety net programs while addressing federal spending issues.
The bill is expected to prevent an average tax increase of $2,660 for Tennesseans in 2026 and avert potential losses of $11.5 billion in wages, $22.5 billion in GDP, and 129,000 jobs within Tennessee. It includes provisions from Senator Blackburn that allocate grants to states and localities for immigration law enforcement, require fingerprinting and DNA testing of illegal alien children for their protection, offer a $6,000 bonus exemption for low- and middle-income seniors, and provide funding for Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
Senator Blackburn stated: “Today, Senate Republicans kept our promise to the American people and accomplished a once-in-a-generation victory for our country.” She emphasized that the act prevents a major tax hike while securing significant tax cuts for individuals and families affected by inflation and spending issues over the past four years. She also called on the House to pass the bill so it can be sent to President Trump by July 4th.
The One Big Beautiful Bill Act aims to deliver economic relief through various measures such as making permanent the 2017 Trump tax cuts, cutting taxes on overtime pay and tips, enhancing child tax credits, increasing take-home pay by over $10,000 annually for families, boosting real GDP growth from 4.6% to 4.9%, supporting Tennessee businesses in job creation and economic expansion efforts, saving Tennessee households an average of $2,600 per year in taxes while maintaining tax breaks for small businesses.
In terms of border security measures outlined in the bill include completing President Trump’s border wall project; increasing ICE officers and Border Patrol personnel; expanding detention capacity; investing in state and local law enforcement cooperation with federal efforts; ensuring permanent operational control at borders.
The legislation also addresses waste reduction alongside strengthening Medicaid Medicare SNAP programs removing illegal aliens from taxpayer-funded assistance programs ensuring benefits reach intended American citizens.
Military investment remains prioritized under this act focusing on shipbuilding defense industrial base new technologies modernization efforts reducing government spending significantly facilitating energy independence through increased domestic production initiatives.
