United States Senator Bill Hagerty appeared on America Reports on Fox News to discuss the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. Hagerty, a member of the Senate Appropriations, Banking, and Foreign Relations Committees and former U.S. Ambassador to Japan, spoke about former President Donald Trump’s stance on preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
Hagerty emphasized Trump’s commitment: “What you’ve heard President [Donald] Trump say time and again, is that he’s not going to allow Iran to have a nuclear weapon.” He mentioned that Trump aims to avoid “endless wars” while putting America’s interests first. Hagerty expressed confidence in Trump’s strategic planning: “I know that he’s three steps ahead of everybody else here.”
He criticized the current administration’s approach toward Iran: “Regretfully, the Biden administration put us back on this same train that [former President Barack] Obama had us on, with respect to Iran marching its way toward a nuclear weapon.” Hagerty reiterated Trump’s determination: “President Trump is not going to allow that to happen.”
Regarding the urgency of resolving the situation, Hagerty stated: “The Iranians ought to look at this very, very carefully and realize President Trump is not going to allow them to have a nuclear weapon.” He warned of consequences if no deal is reached quickly.
On Trump’s America First policy, Hagerty remarked: “This needs to stop, and I think President Trump’s going to make certain that it does in a way that advances America’s interests.”
