U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee has expressed her support for President Trump’s nominations of Mike Dunavant and Braden Boucek as U.S. Attorneys for the Western and Middle Districts of Tennessee, respectively.
“In nominating Mike Dunavant and Braden Boucek, President Trump is keeping his promise to Make America Safe Again,” stated Senator Blackburn. “Both are experienced and principled federal prosecutors who know what it takes to lead a U.S. Attorney’s office. Mike and Braden will uphold the rule of law in Tennessee, restore law and order, and admirably serve the people of our incredible state. In my role on the Senate Judiciary Committee, I look forward to supporting their nominations and working to ensure they are swiftly confirmed.”
Mike Dunavant previously served as a U.S. Attorney during President Trump’s first term, confirmed by a unanimous Senate vote. Under his leadership in Memphis, there was a 13.1% decrease in violent crime from 2017 to 2019. He initiated a carjacking initiative with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) alongside local law enforcement for aggressive prosecution of armed carjackings. Additionally, he revitalized the Project Safe Neighborhoods Task Force by enhancing cooperation with local and federal law enforcement agencies.
Braden Boucek has experience as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Nashville and Memphis and has served as both an Assistant Attorney General and Assistant District Attorney for Tennessee. He has prosecuted cases involving organized crime, drug trafficking, terrorism, and immigration offenses. Currently serving as Vice President of Litigation at the Southeastern Legal Foundation, Boucek focuses on protecting constitutional rights.
The nominations await confirmation from the Senate Judiciary Committee.
