Senator Brent Taylor, a Tennessee state legislator, announced his candidacy for Tennessee’s Ninth Congressional District in a series of posts on social media. In the first post on May 7, 2026, Taylor stated, “We are at a defining moment in Tennessee’s history and an even more pivotal moment for the future of our country. I’m running for Tennessee’s Ninth Congressional District to stand with @realdonaldtrump and cement Tennessee’s conservative legacy for generations to come. Thank https://t.co/WFxR51tV6S”.

On May 8, 2026, Taylor followed up with another message emphasizing his previous efforts and campaign goals: “Just like I’ve fought to Make Memphis Matter and hold Shelby County’s Soros-backed DA accountable, I’m running for Congress to Take Tennessee to the Top! I look forward to meeting you very soon, Trish. https://t.co/hay4b7Qp1N”.

In a subsequent post on the same day, Taylor acknowledged support from another user by writing: “Thanks, @JCarpenterTN! https://t.co/xzDDo4hSKV https://t.co/3B4iIcMLF2”.

Tennessee’s Ninth Congressional District is based in Memphis and has historically been represented by Democrats. Senator Brent Taylor’s announcement comes amid broader political shifts in the state as Republican leaders seek to expand their influence in urban areas.
