Senator Brent Taylor, a member of the Tennessee Senate, recently used his social media platform to highlight legislative and community initiatives focused on Memphis and Shelby County.
On April 14, 2026, Taylor reflected on his personal business journey and advocated for regulatory reform. He stated, “Kimberly and I built a successful business after risking it all on a home equity loan, and I want every person in Shelby County to have that same opportunity. Reducing unnecessary regulation is a great way to #MakeMemphisMatter and allow entrepreneurs to succeed.”
The following day, Taylor described his efforts in the state legislature regarding education policy. On April 15, 2026, he wrote, “Yesterday, I made a motion on the Senate floor asking @ltgovmcnally to appoint a conference committee to work on the Memphis-Shelby County Schools interventions bills so @RepMarkWhiteTN and I can merge the House and Senate versions. Students at MSCS are hanging on like a hair in”.
Later that morning, Taylor reaffirmed his commitment to addressing local challenges through legislative action. In an April 15 post he said, “I won’t back down to #MakeMemphisMatter! We’re addressing crime with the Memphis Safe Task Force, and we will fix Memphis-Shelby County Schools. When crime and education are handled, there is no stopping Memphis. I appreciate the kind words, @michaelpleahy and @realTomPappert!”
Senator Brent Taylor has served as an advocate for reducing regulatory burdens for entrepreneurs in Shelby County while also prioritizing public safety and educational improvements through legislative measures such as task forces and conference committees.
