Senator Brent Taylor, a member of the Tennessee State Senate, announced several legislative developments and political activities through his Twitter account in mid-April 2026.
On April 16, 2026, Taylor reported the passage of a bill related to oversight of district attorney cases. In his words: ” BREAKING: DA AUDIT BILL PASSES SENATE FLOOR! Moments ago I passed legislation giving the Tennessee Attorney General full authority to audit DA Mulroy’s cases tied to the Memphis Safe Task Force — including charge dispositions, plea deals, convictions, sentences,” he wrote.
Later that day, Taylor provided an update on ongoing legislative negotiations concerning Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS). He stated: “BEHIND THE SCENES: MSCS Intervention with Rep. Mark White @RepMarkWhiteTN Lt. Governor McNally @ltgovmcnally and Speaker Sexton @CSexton25 have named their conference committee members for the Senate and House, so we will meet Monday to reconcile the Senate and House bills and”.
On April 17, Taylor highlighted a community event attended by several state officials. He posted: “Mule Day with Marsha Blackburn made one thing very clear: From Memphis to Mountain City and from Turtletown to Tiptonville, we are all working together to #MakeMemphisMatter! @SenJohnson @AndyHolt4TN @TNAgCommish @joey_senator @VoteMarsha”.
