United States Senator Bill Hagerty recently appeared on “Mornings With Maria” on Fox Business to discuss key political developments. During the conversation, Hagerty elaborated on the Senate-passed budget resolution under consideration by the U.S. House of Representatives and addressed President Donald Trump’s trade agenda.

Hagerty shared his optimism regarding the budget resolution. “I’m very optimistic. The House Rules Committee will actually be meeting this morning. President Trump, as you know, met with a number of people in the House last night. I think we’ll get this moved through,” Hagerty said. He highlighted the goal to have tax cuts extended and certainty provided to American businesses for their capital investments.

Addressing media misunderstandings about spending cuts, Hagerty emphasized the importance of committee-level work in achieving at least $2 trillion in spending cuts for American citizens. “There’s been some miscommunication, I think, about some of the targets that we set,” he stated.

The Senator also discussed potential trade negotiations with Japan, expressing optimism based on his past experience as U.S. Ambassador to Japan. He remarked, “I think there’s a wonderful opportunity to see real breakthroughs and real progress.”

Addressing the urgency surrounding the budget resolution, he said, “I hope that they’ll be able to move on this before we leave for Easter recess. Our teams are certainly working hard here in the Senate on the reconciliation process itself.”

On the issue of trade imbalances and Trump’s use of tariffs, Hagerty highlighted historic imbalances that stem back to post-World War II reconstruction efforts. “A lot of these imbalances that President Trump has been signaling… he wants to address,” Hagerty commented.

Regarding China’s retaliatory tariffs, Hagerty hinted at forthcoming changes and cooperation, “I’m very optimistic that David Perdue, former U.S. Senator, will be confirmed as our Ambassador to China very soon.”

Hagerty concluded by reiterating the potential for improved U.S.-China relations and increased global cooperation as key diplomatic appointments are confirmed.
