United States Senator Bill Hagerty introduced Adam Telle, President Donald Trump’s nominee for Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works. In a hearing chaired by Chairman Wicker and Ranking Member Reed, Hagerty expressed his support for Telle, highlighting his qualifications and experience.
Hagerty emphasized the significance of the role, noting that “the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works has a range of important responsibilities, including oversight of the Army Corps of Engineers.” He added that the Corps’ 26,000 civilian and military personnel are crucial not only to the Department of Defense but also to national safety and prosperity through infrastructure maintenance.
Adam Telle’s background includes a magna cum laude degree in computer science and communication from Mississippi State University’s Bagley College of Engineering. His career began in 2005 with Senator Richard Shelby’s office. From 2007 to 2017, he worked with Senator Thad Cochran, eventually becoming Deputy Chief of Staff and Legislative Director.
Telle later served as chief staff member on the Senate Appropriations Committee’s Homeland Security Subcommittee under several senators. He managed an organization comprising nearly 20 agencies with an annual budget around $70 billion. Between 2019 and 2021, he led the Senate team at the White House’s Office of Legislative Affairs.
During his tenure at the White House, Telle played key roles in implementing President Trump’s Abraham Accords and establishing the Space Force. Currently serving as Hagerty’s Chief of Staff, he is described as a leader who brings people together to solve problems.
Hagerty concluded by urging swift confirmation: “I urge this Committee to move quickly in consideration of Adam Telle’s nomination and confirm him as quickly as possible.”
