Women's Basketball earns first ever Southeast ARC ranking | Fisk University
The Fisk University women's basketball team is having a record-breaking season and is now officially ranked number 13 in the Southeast ARC region of the NAIA. This is the first time they have achieved such a ranking, and they are looking to make their mark well into postseason play.
The Southeast region of the NAIA is comprised of four conferences: The Appalachian, Gulf Coast, Southern States, and Sun. One member from each conference will come together to rank the top teams for that region.
In the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC), the Fisk University women's basketball team currently has an impressive 10-3 record in conference play and an overall record of 16-7. Senior Maya Buckhannon has contributed to their success, earning seven GCAC Player of the Week awards. The GCAC is also represented by Rust, ranked number two in the ARC, and Philander Smith, ranked number seven in the ARC.
The Lady Bulldogs are looking to make their presence known in postseason play next weekend during the GCAC conference tournament. With this historic ranking in the Southeast ARC region of the NAIA, Fisk University women's basketball is well-positioned to bring their best game and make a strong impression.
