The Tennessee State men's tennis team picked up their third win of the season on Thursday evening as they defeated Northern Illinois 4-1. The win moves TSU to 3-9.
The Tigers started off the match strong by sweeping the doubles point to grab an early 1-0 lead heading into singles play. The Taj Hibbert / Diego Britt-Alvarez duo won 6-3 at line three, while Jonasz Dziopak / Nicholas Adamec claimed a 6-4 victory at line two to give the Tigers the doubles point.
TSU claimed three points in singles play, while just giving up a point to NIU. Dziopak's match went three sets as he had a long battle in the No. 1 singles, winning 6-7, 6-2, 6-2. Nil Moinet also claimed a three-set win 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 in the No. 3 singles. Hibbert rounded out the TSU lineup with a 6-4, 6-0 win at line four.
The men will be back in action on March 16 as they will host Alabama A&M at Hadley Park.
