Lipscomb earned their third series win of the season after run-ruling the Dolphins in the rubber match on Sunday afternoon. Noah Thompson stole the show, pitching for all eight innings while allowing just three hits with seven strikeouts and no runs.
Thompson retired the first ten batters he faced, which gave Lipscomb's offense quick opportunities to continue their timely hitting from game two. Thompson improved to 3-0 this season with anothe textbook outing.
The Bisons struck first in the third on a deep sacrifice fly from Trace Willhoite to plate two runs which broke the ice. Lipscomb then tallied five runs in their following opportunities at the plate in the fourth. Caleb Ketchup was responsible for the first run as he sent a double down the third base line to bring in Chaz Bertolani.
Then, with Ketchup still on, Alex Vergara roped his fifth homer of the season over the left field wall adding two more. Next, Austin Kelly's single to right center which scored the last two runs in the inning, giving the Bisons a comfortable 7-0 advantage over Jacksonville.
Lipscomb plated two more in the bottom of the seventh with solid base running after a fielder's choice allowed Mason Lundgrin to reach first to bring home a pair. The final run for the Bisons came on a wild pitch with runners at the corners to seal the series for the Bisons.
The Bisons finished with eight hits on the day and five two-out RBIs, similar to game two, where nine of their ten runs were scored with two outs.
