Davidson County’s 236 coaches earned an average salary of $176,336 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the third highest average salary per county earned by coaches at Tennessee post-secondary schools during 2022.

Davidson County is home to six post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, Vanderbilt University stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $923,027.

Male coaches of men's teams received $424,124 on average in Davidson County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $141,762.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
