United States Senator Bill Hagerty recently appeared on "Mornings With Maria" on Fox Business to discuss the legislative agenda of the incoming Trump Administration. As a member of several Senate committees and a former U.S. Ambassador to Japan, Hagerty provided insights into various issues including reconciliation, tariffs, and executive orders.

Discussing the reconciliation bill procedure, Hagerty expressed confidence in its progress. He stated, “I’m confident we’ll do it... my concern is that it be done quickly.” He emphasized the importance of moving at a fast pace and highlighted the need for President Trump's cabinet to be in place promptly.

Hagerty also addressed completing reconciliation in one comprehensive bill. He acknowledged frustrations with specific issues like the SALT tax but stressed unity as a nation. “President Trump did a magnificent job of that in the election... It’s our turn now to act on that,” he said.

On leadership changes at the Pentagon, Hagerty emphasized new leadership focused on lethality and competence. He supported Pete Hegseth's candidacy and criticized current DEI initiatives under the Biden Administration. “We’ve got to get back to the basics,” he remarked.

Regarding tariffs, Hagerty praised President Trump as an expert negotiator who has previously imposed tariffs during his first administration. He stated, “He will be strategic in this process... he’s going to use this to America’s advantage.”

Finally, Hagerty discussed Trump's plan for executive orders from day one. He noted rapid implementation plans due to perceived damage by the Biden Administration over four years. Hagerty cited early results such as Masayoshi Son's investment commitment and increased defense spending by allies like the UK.
