United States Senator Bill Hagerty appeared on Fox News' Sunday Morning Futures to discuss several pressing issues, including the Southern California fires, Congress's role in President Trump's agenda, and concerns over Vulcan Materials Company's situation with Mexico.
Regarding the California fires, Hagerty criticized state leadership. He stated, “At this point, we still don’t know the full extent of the damage... But what we can see is the failure of policy there and the failure of leadership in California that’s been egregious." He expressed concern over insurance policies and predicted a long rebuilding process.
On Congress's role in advancing Trump's agenda, Hagerty emphasized urgency. “We need to be moving expeditiously," he said. "The main point is we need the entirety of this agenda implemented as quickly as possible.”
Hagerty also highlighted the importance of confirming Trump’s cabinet swiftly. He noted that Democrats might use procedural delays but stressed, “We need to be moving quickly. Every one of these cabinet nominees needs to get a fair hearing.”
Discussing executive orders and legislative actions for Trump's first day in office, Hagerty said they are necessary for addressing national security and economic issues.
Finally, on Vulcan Materials Company’s assets being seized by Mexico, Hagerty was critical of President Biden's administration. “What America needs to do is stand up for its private sector,” he argued. He warned about potential risks involving foreign interests like China's Belt and Road Initiative if Mexico retains control.
