Tennessee State University athletes competed at the Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta on April 18, participating in a range of track and field events with several notable performances.

The event included sprints, hurdles, relays, and field competitions for both men’s and women’s teams. On the men’s side, Kylen Thorps led the Tigers in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 54.16 seconds. He was followed by Brian Townsend at 54.61 seconds and Bobby Teixeira at 56.82 seconds. In the 400 meters, Joshua McClendon finished with a time of 48.08 seconds.

Devin Jones paced Tennessee State’s runners in the men’s 800 meters with a time of 1:50.23, followed by Robert Hooper (1:51.01), Delton White (1:56.92), and Aaron Davis (1:58.20). Caleb Joshway ran the men’s 200 meters in 21.23 seconds while Jayden Guy completed it in 22.31 seconds.

In relay events, Tennessee State’s men’s “A” team—composed of Devin Jones, Caleb Joshway, Kylen Thorps, and Joshua McClendon—finished the 4×400 meter relay with a time of 3:14.37 minutes; their “B” team finished at 3:24.25 minutes.

Field events saw Christian White record a long jump mark of 6.74 meters while Kolby Jones reached distances of both 6.60 meters (long jump) and added a triple jump result of 14.14 meters; Gabriel Deng also participated in triple jump with a distance of 13.85 meters.

For Tennessee State’s women’s team, Serenity Harry led her squad in the women’s 200-meter dash clocking at 24.71 seconds ahead of Kaymin Sales (25.89) and Syncere Harrison (27.89). Sales also posted a time of 58.77 seconds for the women’s open-400 meter run; Sydney McGee ran an eight-hundred meter race finishing at 2:22 minutes as Haley Blades followed close behind at 2:28 minutes.

In women’s field competition Carolyn McRee threw shot put to reach 12.27 meters; Ayana Pugh achieved an 11-39m throw while Kaylin White marked her long jump performance at 5-90m—and Emmani Roberts contributed an eleven-point-seven-three meter effort on triple jump.
