Tennessee State men’s basketball announced on May 5 the signing of guard Christian Alston from Abilene Christian, according to head coach Nolan Smith.
The addition of Alston is seen as a move to strengthen the team’s roster for upcoming seasons. His experience and performance at Abilene Christian could provide depth and versatility in the guard position for Tennessee State.
Alston played in 51 games over two seasons with the Wildcats, averaging 4.4 points and 1.8 rebounds per game. In the 2025-26 season, he appeared in 30 games, posting averages of 4.7 points and 1.9 rebounds while shooting nearly 35 percent from the field and recording eight double-figure scoring performances. Some of his top games included a career-high 18 points against Utah Valley and double-digit scoring efforts against UTSA, McMurry, Southern Utah, and William & Mary.
During his first season in college basketball (2024-25), Alston played in 23 games with averages of four points and nearly two rebounds per contest. He also showed efficiency at the free-throw line with an over eighty percent conversion rate that year.
Before joining college basketball, Alston was recognized as a three-star prospect by recruiting service 247Sports and was ranked as the No.3 player in Tennessee out of Bartlett High School where he scored more than one thousand career points.
