Tennessee State University’s softball team faced East Tennessee State in a nonconference game Thursday evening at Betty Basler Field. The Lady Tigers managed two hits during the contest, with Jace Jackson contributing a double down the left-field line in the fourth inning. Jackson advanced to third base later that inning, placing her team in scoring position.

Jasmine Blackburn reached base twice through a single and a walk and also recorded two stolen bases, reflecting the team’s continued focus on aggressive baserunning. Despite limited offensive opportunities against a nationally ranked opponent, Tennessee State worked to generate scoring chances throughout the game.

Pitchers Miriam Gordon and Tianna Salcido shared time in the circle for Tennessee State, facing what was described as a challenging lineup from East Tennessee State. Gordon tallied two strikeouts while pitching in relief. Defensively, the Lady Tigers executed a double play during the second inning.

The attendance for Thursday’s game at Betty Basler Field was 73 spectators.

Tennessee State will continue their participation in the Bucs Tournament on Friday. They are scheduled to play East Tennessee State again at 10:30 a.m., followed by an afternoon matchup against Bowling Green at 3 p.m.
