The Tennessee State University softball team will conclude its home schedule this weekend by hosting Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) in a three-game Ohio Valley Conference series, according to an April 24 announcement. The games are set for Saturday at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., with the series finale on Sunday at 1 p.m. Senior Day festivities will begin at noon on Sunday.

This weekend’s series is important as it marks the Tigers’ last opportunity to play at Tiger Field this season, while also providing a chance to improve their position in conference standings ahead of postseason play.

Tennessee State enters the matchup following a strong offensive showing in their previous game, achieving a season-high run total with a 20-9 win over Western Illinois. Players Jace Jackson, Hailey Hunt, Alexis Woods, and Noelani Wilkerson contributed significantly on offense, while Courtney Richardson provided relief pitching to secure the victory.

Historically, SIUE has held an advantage in the all-time series since their first meeting in 2011, leading with a record of 25-10. However, recent contests have been more evenly matched; over the last ten games between the teams, each has won five times. Notably, Tennessee State recorded four consecutive wins against SIUE during the 2024 stretch and several victories have come at home.

Sunday’s game will also serve as Senior Day for Tennessee State. The program will honor its graduating players before first pitch as they take Tiger Field one final time before their home crowd.

With postseason implications and emotions running high for seniors playing their last home games, Tennessee State aims to build on recent momentum and finish its home schedule strongly against SIUE.
