Tennessee State University’s softball team will host Western Illinois for a three-game conference series at Tiger Field on April 18 and 19.

The matchup gives Tennessee State a chance to build on recent offensive momentum as the team returns home for an important stretch of conference play. The Tigers are coming off a midweek game at Middle Tennessee, where they recorded 11 hits in a 7-3 contest. JaKeyla McDaniel, Jasmine Blackburn, Alexis Woods, and Mariyah Brown each had multiple hits, while Kailyn Jean-Baptiste hit a solo home run.

The Tigers have shown progress at the plate, generating consistent baserunners and scoring in several innings during their last outing. McDaniel has been productive at the top of the lineup, with Blackburn and Brown contributing steadily. Jean-Baptiste’s power adds another element as Tennessee State seeks timely hitting in conference games.

In recent history against Western Illinois, Tennessee State holds a 5-1 record since April 2024. The Tigers won five straight games before dropping their most recent meeting with Western Illinois in April 2025. At home, Tennessee State is undefeated against the Leathernecks during this period and has averaged nearly six runs per game across six matchups.

The teams last played in Macomb, Illinois, where Tennessee State swept a doubleheader before losing the final game of that series. Returning to Tiger Field offers an opportunity for the Tigers to capitalize on their strong home record versus Western Illinois as they aim for more wins this weekend.

Saturday’s doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., with Sunday’s finale set for 1 p.m.
