The Tennessee State softball team will travel to Charleston, Illinois, for its final Ohio Valley Conference road series of the regular season, according to an April 29 announcement. The Tigers are scheduled to begin a three-game set against Eastern Illinois on Friday afternoon.

The upcoming games are important as the Tigers aim to build momentum before postseason play. The first game is set for Friday at 5 p.m., followed by a doubleheader on Saturday with games at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Tennessee State has shown growth in offense and competitiveness during recent conference matchups. The team has improved its batting and created more scoring opportunities while different players have contributed throughout the lineup. Timely hitting and aggressive base-running have supported their efforts, while the pitching staff continues to gain experience against conference opponents.

Eastern Illinois leads the all-time series with a record of 34-7 since 2008, including wins in their most recent meetings in Nashville during the previous season. However, several recent games between the teams have been closely contested. Tennessee State last secured a road win over Eastern Illinois in Charleston during the 2024 season and achieved its most recent series victory over them in 2021. Many matchups have been decided by just one run.

The Tigers are looking to end a five-game losing streak against Eastern Illinois as they prepare for the final stretch of conference play.
